Copper sulphate etching

I had the chance to try my hand at copper sulphate etching at The Cork Printmakers with Brian Barry over a 3 week period and I really loved the process. As with most printmaking I’ve encountered, it can be a bit of a mind melt of opposites and upside down-ness when trying to figure out what goes where.. but here’s how it went for me.

This is what I ended up with - we used a blue ink to print and I wanted to try and keep everything as simple as possible to see what kind of textures I could pull out of the aluminium plate using a few different methods that Brian had shown us.
